We arrived in the first country of our Asian trip, Indonesia, at the beginning of October. The country is famous for having a lot of fantastic diving spots and volcanoes to climb. We spent almost two years without doing any dives as it is much more expensive in Europe. We were looking forward to start diving again among colorful fishes and corals.

We definitely fell in love with the Riviera Maya. So much that we decided to extend our staying a bit more. To change settings just a bit, we moved to an island: Cozumel.
To get to the island, we first took a bus from Tulum to Playa del Carmen. From there, we took the ferry to Cozumel. During the whole ride you can enjoy a beautiful view of the spectacular Caribbean sea and all its colors. The water takes all the shades of blue and green, already from the harbor!

While in Guatemala, we decided to take a small detour to go and visit the mayan ruins of Copan in Honduras. We knew we were going to see a lot of Mayan archeological sites in the next few weeks but those one seemed quite special. But don’t worry, you can still enjoy the amazing animals of the Galapagos while being on a budget.

When we think about Peru, usually the first thing that comes to mind is Machu Picchu and the many beautiful hikes that you can do in the Andes. Most of the time we do not think about the coast, but in the north of Peru is pretty nice. Moreover, since you are almost at the border with Ecuador, the climates tends to be quite warm.
After more than one month hiking the Andes, we wanted some warmth and decided to go to Mancora. The city is located at the meeting between the warm current from the north and the cold one from the south. Such conditions create the perfect environment for a very rich marine life.
Puerto Madryn: a paradise for animal lovers
Have you ever heard about peninsula Valdes? It is not only a peninsula in Argentina but also a natural park, famous for its rich fauna. In high season, you can see a lot of animals like penguins, sea lions, elephant seals, orcas and much more. But the most impressive, and iconic, of all are the whales. We went there in low season, when supposedly there are much less animals but, except for whales, we saw quite a lot of them!
